Hailey Elizabeth Atwell was born in London on April 5, 1982. The actress is the only child in the family. Her parents divorced when she was less than three years old. Her mother, Alison, is a British speaker who conducts workshops on public speaking and related activities. His father, Grant Atwell, was an American photographer who studied shamanic rites. Among his ancestors were representatives of the indigenous peoples of the United States. It is not surprising that Atwell, at the first opportunity and without any problems, received second citizenship – American.

Grant has lived in the United States since 1985, and Hailey and his mother in the British capital. They became very close and maintained such a relationship for many years, while Alison did not interfere with the daughter’s communication with the father – the girl flew to him regularly. Hailey grew up as a so-called kid. According to her, as a child, she felt asexual, climbed trees with boys, and easily got involved in adventures. At the same time, she had complexes about weight. Her classmates changed her last name to “fatwell” (from the word fat – “fat”), quite ruining the girl’s life.

After graduating from Roman Catholic school, Hailey wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and continue to study public speaking. She was unable to score enough points to enter Oxford and felt relieved of the burden of responsibility because she was unsure of the path she had chosen.

The desire to become an actress overcame all other aspirations, so for three years, from 2002 to 2005, she studied at the Guildhall – School of Music and Theater. There she met Jody Whittaker, and they quickly became friends; and Michelle Dockery, with whom Hailey later worked on the television film Troubled (2012).

Hailey has been attending castings since she was a student. Although her parents helped her with money, she aspired to independence and paid for a year of tuition fees for filming chips. In terms of roles in the big movie, luck smiled on the actress at rehearsals for Woody Allen’s film “Cassandra’s Dream” (2007). The next two years were marked by the release of three mini-series starring Hailey: “Prisoner” (2009), “Heart of Every Man” (2010), and “Pillars of the Earth” (2010). When the actress was asked earlier if she wanted to continue playing Peggy on television in the name series, she agreed before reading the script. The project aired in 2015. Unfortunately for fans, “Agent Carter” lasted only two seasons. The case is remarkable for television: the show did not show high ratings in costly production, while all significant resources had high audience ratings and favorable reviews from professionals. Atwell herself was nominated for “Saturn” for the role of Carter. After starring in “Cinderella” (2015), as well as marking her presence in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Ant-Man”, Hailey received her second series, where she acted as a flagship. False Accusation (2016) – a lawyer detective in an unobtrusive style was closed after the first season.

Atwell turned her attention to the script of the mini-series “Howards End” (2017), which allowed her to return to filming in the scenery of her favorite era. The release of the film “Christopher Robin” (2018) was no less a great premiere in 2018 for the actress. She and co-star Ewan McGregor, already familiar with Cassandra’s Dream, have been involved in the film’s promotion for several months.

In August 2018, Atwell attended the premiere of the drama “Children’s Law” (2018). Despite the seriousness of the topic raised in the plot, the actors entertained the audience on the red carpet, and in the center of events was Hailey and Emma Thompson, who joined her.

Actress and writer Gabriel Bisset-Smith met while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Theater. However, in 2012, the couple announced a breakup. Now the actress claims that her rare relationship lasts more than two years. She likes independence and freedom.
